Norwegian well-known composer Edward Grieg is coming to town. Not in person but in spirit, through the incidental music for the play Peer Gynt. Barbara Bonney will perform the concert with the acclaimed Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. The renowned Long Yu will be conductiong the performance.

Following the release of their debut album, Norwegian improvised jazz band Muringa is set to tour Asia. The quartet plays selected cities in Southern China, early February.

On 21 December 2011 the Norwegian government announced they will offer up to 6 billion SDR (equivalent to 7 billion euros) to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as a bilateral loan to contribute to stabilising the European and international economy, and thus also contribute to safeguarding the Norwegian economy and Norwegian jobs.

Embassy //

New requirements for supporting documents for short-stay visas to Norway/Schengen will be implemented by the Norwegian Embassy in Beijing and the Consulate Generals in Shanghai and Guangzhou starting from 1st of December 2011. The requirements are based on a harmonized list agreed upon by all Schengen countries and adjusted according to country-specific requirements. The new requirements only
