The Minister of Health and Care Services and his delegation visited Beijing and Zhengzhou the Province Capital of Henan Province.
During his stay Mr Gabrielsen met with Executive Minister of Health Mr. Gao Qiang.
The purpose of the visit was to consolidate the already ongoing bilateral cooperation on health issues and to learn more about how to expand and develop this relationship in a constructive way. During his visit Minister Gabrielsen and China’s Executive Minister of Health Mr. Gao Qiang, discussed further cooperation.
The main topics during Mr. Gabrielsens’ visit included; - Disease Control and Prevention, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Mental Health and HIV/AIDS.
Mr. Gabrielsen visited institutions and hospitals that reflected the four main topics for his visit. In Beijing he visited the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This visit was concentrated on Disease Control and Surveillance and HIV/AIDS issues. At the Centre he will also met the project-coordinator of the CHARTS – program (concerning HIV/AIDS), Dr. Yu Dongbao.
In Beijing the Minister also visited Guang’anmen Hospital, a hospital specialized in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to obtain more knowledge of the use of TCM, and he visited the Mental Health Institute of Beijing University and Beijing Suicide Research and Prevention Centre in order to get more knowledge about how China works with Mental Health issues.
In Zhengzhou, Norway’s Minster of Health and Care Services conducted talks with Provincial Government Representatives and visited First Teaching Hospital of Zhengzhou University, which has cooperated with The Norwegian Radium Hospital - Comprehension Cancer Centre, on education, research and clinical praxis. The two institutions have enjoyed a long and fruitful relationship.
Mr. Gabrielsen and his delegation expressed that they where very satisfied with their visit and felt they return to Norway with a lot of new and interesting knowledge that will contribute to expand and continue the relationship with the Chinese counterparts.
