"This exhibition have been organized and prepared specifically for Nordic House.
The works of Art made for this particular show are inspired by a Chinese landscape which is unknown
and at the same time familiar. The familiarity of the Chinese Culture is reconstructed from fragments of
information which have accumulated in my memory throughout my life.
The first fragment as such is one of myself digging a hole in the ground as a six year old child on a small
island outside Stavanger, Norway. Knowing China was on the opposite side of the planet I would try to make a tunnel through and meet our foreign neighbours on the other side or even meet halfway if I was lucky.
My first attempt of connecting with the Chinese was unfortunately a failure.
Nonetheless I have since encountered many cultural experiences from that part of the world in the forms of visual art, literature, philosophy, music, dance, film, cuisine and of course interesting and wonderful people. The pictures I now have in my head from all these impressions have accumulated into a few visual pieces made from paper cuttings and assembled into unified images.
The exhibition will also consist of images from my Norwegian heritage and from an exhibition in St. Petersburgh, Russia in 2006.
