This solar eclipse is the longest total solar eclipse that will occur in the twenty-first century, and will not be surpassed in duration until June 13, 2132! Totality will last for up to 6 minutes and 39 seconds. It will be visible from a narrow corridor through northern India, eastern Nepal, northern Bangladesh, Bhutan, the northern tip of Myanmar, central China, and the Pacific Ocean.

n China 37 city districts and countries will get to see parts, or the whole, of this spectacular event, in which the longest observation will be in Zhongxian with a totality of 5 minutes and 9 seconds.
Due to the solar eclipse in Central Asia, one is expecting an increase in tourist groups coming to China to witness this spectacular and unique show. It is, among others, anticipated that the always enthusiastic and charismatic astronomer Knut Jørgen Røed Ødegaard, will guide a Norwegian expedition to China.
Important note; Never look directly at the sun, even if the total solar eclipse makes it easier to stare directly at the sun. The intensity of the radiation from the visible part of the sun is as strong as normal, so it can still harm you vision. Always make sure to use special solar eclipse glasses, or make your own “solar eclipse box” with a paper box.
