It will include continous Chinese culture experiences for people living and visiting Oslo and the surrounding area with dragon dance parade, concerts, movies and olympic sailing in the Oslofjord. Representatives from both countries will fill Oslo with Chinese music, new and old art treasures, movies, sports and cultural debates. The Chinese Culture Festival will this fall not only paint Oslo in Chinese colours but also Bergen and Stavanger will host different events in connection with the festival.
During the three month long festival people in Oslo can look forward to:
- 1.sept. Traditional Dragon dance Parade in the centre of Oslo along with a Grieg concert in Oslo Concert Hall by China National Orchestra, Steinar Ofsdal, Bodil Arnesen and Catharina Chen will open the festival.
- 2-13-sept. An Art exhibition by Chinese artists in Galleri da Vinci in Ski county.
- 5.sept Concert “Fang Jin Long & 3 of sweet 18” in Bærum Culturehouse.
- 7.sept Beijing Opera performance in Bærum Culturehouse
- 7.sept China’s Olympic sailing team will introduce Qingdao which will host the Olypmic Regatta events.
- Sept-Dec Modern Chinese art exhibition at the Astrup-Fearnley museum
- 16.sept Music and dance performance from China’s Xinjiang Autonomous Region, Oslo Concert Hall.
- 4-11.oct Films from the South Festival, New Chinese Cinema
- 6-7.oct Chinese Weekend Children’s Festival, Oslo City Hall Square.
- 30.nov Henrik Ibsen’s famous play ”A doll’s House” will be performed by both Norwegian and Chinese actors,
Great interest for China in Norway
Project manager for the Chinese Culture Festival 2007, Elise Chen, who wishes that Norwegians will open their eyes for Chinese music, sports and contemporary art and culture, says: “This coming fall will belong to China, and us Chiense living in Norway are looking forward to giving Norwegians a glimpse of Chinese contemporary culture."
