DNV ranks 41st on the "2008 MNC Contributors to China" List.

DNV has been honored as the only class society and the only Norwegian company to be nominated on the “2008 MNC Contributors to China” List.

In all, 100 multinational corporations were selected from 1500 candidate companies and ranked on the List. The top 60 on the List were awarded a prize for their outstanding contributions to China.

Ranked 41st, DNV was given the “Multinational Corporations in China- Contributor” Award.

The honor roll was released officially at the‘Grow Together with China’High-Level Forum in Beijing on Nov 7. The event was organized to commemorate the 30th anniversary of reform and opening up in China.

Thomas Vogth-Eriksen, Industry Director of Operations for Asia and Australia,  represented DNV at the Forum. “It's a great honor for DNV to receive the award,” he said.

Speaking in a panel discussion at the event, he says that climate change and the environment represent an important area in which DNV has top-level competence. He adds that DNV will take a leading role in China to support the country's sustainable development.
Also, when asked about challenges and opportunities for China in the future, Thomas said that the recent melamine scandal has shown that there is a need to improve the transparency and the safety in the food supply chain, and this is also an important focus area for DNV.

The Forum was organized by the publication, China Enterprise News, in collaboration with 82 established institutions and media organization, and supported by the ministry of Commerce. The selection of the Top 100 MNC contributors to China was based on an index which evaluates MNC contributions to China in three aspects- economy, society and environment. The final results were decided through public voting as well as assessment by 21 experts.

Commenting on DNV's inclusion on the Top 100 list, DNV Area Chair for Greater China, Joerg Beiler, said, “It's a good recognition of DNV's operations in China. DNV not only witnessed this nation's economic progress over the past 30 years, but was also actively involved in that process.”

“DNV has shown its strong commitment to China since we first established our presence in Xiamen in 1888. Under the DNV Vision of global impact for a safe and sustainable future, we will continue our commitment to the country and be China’s partner for sustainable development.” added Joerg.
