Honorary Consul Mr. Liu Cheng Chan awarded the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit

On 4 November, Svein O. Sæther, the Norwegian Ambassador to China decorated Mr. Liu Cheng Chan, the Honorary Consul in Hong Kong, with the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit.

The Royal Norwegian Order of Merit (Kongens Fortjenstorden, Norwegian) was founded by King Olav V in 1985. It is conferred on foreign and Norwegian nationals as a reward for their “outstanding service in the interest of Norway”.

Mr. Liu was appointed Norway’s Honorary Consul to Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China in 2008. Over the last years, the Honorary Consulate has proved essential in building bridges between Norway and Hong Kong, as well as in assisting Norwegian business representatives within trade and industry. Additionally, the Consulate has put in remarkable efforts concerning the consular field.

We would like to congratulate Mr. Liu on this occasion, and express our gratitude for the work he has done on behalf of Norway and the Norwegian community in Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR.
