Norwegian Embassy expands its cultural cooperation with Mongolia

Last updated: 03/12/2010 // During the Norwegian Embassy’s visit to Mongolia in November, two culture agreements were signed with the Arts Council of Mongolia. “We hope these projects will contribute to increased knowledge about Norway and Norwegian culture and history among Mongolians, Ambassador Sæther said during a ceremony at the Red Ger Gallery in Ulaan Baatar.

The Norwegian Ambassador to Mongolia, Mr. Svein O. Sæther visited Ulaan Baatar from 24-26 November 2010. During the visit, the Embassy signed two cultural cooperation agreements with the Arts Council of Mongolia (ACM), the “Young Leadership in the Arts” programme, and the Arts Network TV program. Both projects aim at capacity building and knowledge transfer, key elements in Norwegian development policy. At the occasion, a gathering was held at the “Red Ger Gallery”, where invited guests from the ACM Board, media, culture personalities and former participants in the “Young Leadership in the Arts” programme were also present. In his speech, Sæther highlighted the growing cultural cooperation between Norway and Mongolia, and expressed hope for further cooperation in the future.

During the visit to Mongolia, the Embassy also had meetings with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Adviser to the President on Human Rights and Public Participation, as well as agencies in Mongolia. The Ambassador also met with a group of Norwegians, who shared their experiences on living and working in Mongolia.
