Dalian is a city of approximately 6 million inhabitants in the north-east of China. Yet, despite the enormous difference in size, the two cities have many common characteristics. They both have considerable expertise in the maritime sectors and both have ambitious plans in terms of renewable energy.
The main points of the agreement emphasized the aim of developing a closer friendship and mutual understanding, thus encouraging cooperation in several business related fields. In particular, cooperation is envisaged to take place in the fields of maritime industry, the marine sector, trade, culture and design, research and technology. The Dalian representatives also expressed a wish to send large tourist groups to Bergen.
