Official visit to Guangxi

28/07/2009 // The Consul General in Guangzhou paid a visit to Guangxi 16 and 17 July. Co-operation within the maritime industry, aluminium production, hydropower and offshore wind were identified as potential key areas of co-operation.

The Consul General paid his first official visit to Nanning, Guangxi 16 and 17 June. During talks with Executive Vice Chairman Mr. Chen Wu and high ranking representatives of the FAO, the NDRC and the Department of Commerce, four areas were identified as potential key areas of co-operation between Guangxi and Norway. Firstly, it was agreed to explore further the scope for co-operation between in the maritime sector. Secondly, it should be explored if the rich supply of bauxite and Guangxi’s aluminium industry could interest trade or investment by Norwegian companies. Thirdly, there is a joint ambition that the substantial hydropower resources and ongoing production of turbines and other heavy equipment in Nanning for the Norwegian company Hafslund lead to closer co-operation within the hydropower industry. Finally, offshore wind power was discussed, both in terms of the potential offshore and production of jackets and other parts by Guangxi’s heavy industry.
