Applicants holding official passports such as diplomatic passports, service passport, passports for public affairs should apply for their visas through the competent Chinese Ministry or Commission.
Holders of ordinary passports should apply in person.
A case processing fee has to be paid for all applications, whatever the outcome. The fee must be paid when you submit your application.
Required Documents:
All the necessary documents listed below should be delivered together with the application to the Embassy, otherwise the application will be refused.
All documents must be presented in the original; all the documents have to be translated into English or Norwegian.
Note: The application should be handed in to the embassy in the following order:
- Passport, valid at least 90 days after expiry of visa, containing at least 2 blank pages and issued within the previous ten years.
- 2 passport photos not older than six months (see left side of page for photo requirements).
- Application form for Schengen visa duly completed.
- Invitation letter from the Norwegian business partner, stating the purpose, duration and itinerary for the whole stay in Schengen area. The embassy can accept a copy, but the invitation must be signed.
- Official introduction letter from the Chinese company or organization (including the address, telephone number, fax number, position of the applicant, purpose of the trip, and guarantee of return).
- Business license of the Chinese company in the original and one photocopy (only applicable to private passport holders).
- Documentation of own funds for the stay or a guarantee declaration issued by the reference person stating financial means (in invitation, guarantee letter, etc.).
- Copy of your passport (all relevant and used pages).
- For Chinese citizens: Hukou, with a photocopy of all the pages (only applicable to private passport holders).
- For other citizens: valid Chinese residence permit.
- Valid travel/health insurance for the entire journey in the Schengen Area with minimum coverage of EURO 30.000. Original + one photocopy.

There is no need for the Norwegian part to contact the Embassy except upon request.
The Embassy reserves the right to request additional information/documentation and, if deemed necessary, to interview the applicant.
Please note that when a visa has been granted, applicants may be required to show a valid return airplane ticket in original and one copy in order to obtain their visa. After delivering the ticket to the Embassy, the embassy will notify when your visa is ready for pick-up (normally within 2 days).
