Student Permit

All applications will be forwarded to the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration. 

Processing fee:

A case processing fee must be paid for all applications, whatever the outcome. The fee must be paid when you submit your application.

Processing time:

The process takes from 2 to 3 months.

Documents required:

All the documents have to be translated into English or Norwegian. If necessary, the verification should be made by Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Note that all documents need to be submitted in original.

The Embassy may contact the applicant to request additional documents.

Note! Two sets of the application should be handed in to the Embassy in the following order:

1. Passport, valid at least 90 days after expiry of the visa.
2. Passport photo not older than six months. See left side for photo requirements.
3. Application Form for students duly completed.
4. Applicant's "Family Information Form", duly completed.
5. The "Letter of Admission" issued by the Norwegian institution of learning. The letter must contain your name, information about the educational institution, the studies and level to which you have been admitted, plus the length of the studies.
6. Study Plan Form.
7. Financial Plan Form.
8. Proof of accommodation in Norway (e.g. Tenancy agreement, lease of house, etc.).
9. Documentation of English skills.
10. Financial Guarantee:
    • Self-financed applicants should deposit the money in a Norwegian bank account in the applicant’s name or in the educational institution’s account and provide this documentation. NOK 89.000 for one year. Not applicable for students at folk high school. For more information contact your educational institute.
    • If the applicant has been granted financial support from the Norwegian State Educational Fund, please present the original letter of approval.
    • If the applicant has an economic guarantee from a sponsor, the money should be deposited in a Norwegian bank account in the applicant's name. Please provide documentation.
11. Documentation of last educational degree with notarial certificate or letter from your educational  institution.
12. Copy of your passport (all relevant and used pages).
13. Documentation proving change of name (if any)
14. For Chinese Citizens: hukou in the original, with a photocopy of all the pages (only applicable to private passport holders).
15. For other citizens: valid Chinese residence permit.
16. Applicant's "Report form" duly completed.
