Residence Permits (employment, family reunion):
The national visa issued will be valid for Norway only. All applications will be forwarded to the Directorate of Immigration in Norway. The Embassy will then inform you of their decision.
Processing fee:
A case processing fee is payable for visa applications, whatever the outcome. The fee must be paid when you submit your application. Please see left side under Visa Fees for more information.
The following are exempt from this fee:

Children below the age of 18 years

Application from foreign citizens included in the regulations for residence permit in the EEA Agreement or the EFTA Convention, according to the Immigration Regulation §§174-189a, or renewal of such permit.

Application for refuge or renewal of permit for foreign citizen that has been granted refuge, or is protected according to the Immigration Act §15, 1.
Processing time:
The process takes from 6 to 12 months.
Visa application:
Applicants with official passports such as diplomatic passports, service passports, passports "for Public affairs" should apply for their visas via the competent Chinese Ministry or Commission.
Holders of ordinary passports must apply in person.
Documents required:
Prepare all the necessary documents before you deliver the application to the Embassy, otherwise the processing time may take longer.
All documents have to be translated into English or Norwegian. If necessary, the verification should be made by Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Note that all documents need to be submitted in original.
The Embassy may contact the applicant to request additional documents.
Family Reunification:
Note: Two sets of the application should be handed in to the Embassy in following order:
- Passport, valid at least 90 days after expiry of the visa.

Application form for residence permit duly completed.

Applicant's "Family Information Form", duly completed.

The invitation letter issued by the the reference/inviter stating the purpose of the visit.

Copy of the reference passport.

Documentation of subsistence: Reference's economic situation (bank certificate, salary statements (last 3 months) etc.).

Documentation of housing in Norway (ownership contract, tenancy agreement).
-
Documentation of relationship: The original notarial certificate stating the relationship between the applicant(i.e. Marriage Certificate or Birth Certificate, whichever is applicable).

A declaration of consent for children (when only the parents have/will be granted a residence or work permit).
- Applicant's birth certificate (notarial confirmation).

Documentation proving change of name (if any).

Copies of all the pages of your passport (also blank pages).

For Chinese Citizens: hukou in the original, with a photocopy of all the pages (only applicable to private passport holders).

For other citizens: valid Chinese residence permit.

- Applicant's "Supporting documents which must be submitted in applications for family immigration" duly completed
If a child is to be reunited with one of its parents living in Norway, the parent who is to remain in China must give his/her written consent. In addition, the letter of consent must be certified by the Notary Public office.
If the application is filed on grounds of the applicant's intention to marry a principal person residing in Norway, an original notarial certificate that states the person's marital status is required.
Work Permit:
Note: Two sets of the application should be handed in to the Embassy in the following order:
