Work / Family Reunion Residence Permit

• Children below the age of 18 years
• Application from foreign citizens included in the regulations for residence permit in the EEA Agreement or the EFTA Convention, according to the Immigration Regulation §§174-189a, or renewal of such permit.
• Application for refuge or renewal of permit for foreign citizen that has been granted refuge, or is protected according to the Immigration Act §15, 1.

Processing time:

The process takes from 6 to 12 months.

Visa application:

Applicants with official passports such as diplomatic passports, service passports, passports "for Public affairs" should apply for their visas via the competent Chinese Ministry or Commission.

Holders of ordinary passports must apply in person.

Documents required:

Prepare all the necessary documents before you deliver the application to the Embassy, otherwise the processing time may take longer.

All documents have to be translated into English or Norwegian. If necessary, the verification should be made by Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Note that all documents need to be submitted in original.

The Embassy may contact the applicant to request additional documents.

Work Permit:

Note: Two sets of the application should be handed in to the Embassy in the following order:

1. Passport, valid at least 90 days after expiry of the visa.
2. 2 passport photos not older than six months (see left side of the page for photo requirements).
3. Application form for work duly completed.
4. Applicant's "Family Information Form", duly completed.
5. Labour contract in original signed by both parties.
6. Documentation of relevant education and work experience (notarial confirmation).
7. Documentation of housing in Norway (e.g. tenancy agreement, lease of house, etc.) 
8. Applicant's birth certificate (notarial confirmation).
9. Documentation proving change of name (if any).
10. Copy of your passport (all relevant and used pages).
11. For Chinese Citizens: Hukou in the original, with a photocopy of all the pages (only applicable to private passport holders).
12. For other citizens: valid Chinese residence permit.
13. Applicant's  "Authorization Form" duly completed (optional).
14. Applicant's "Report Form" duly completed.
    

Chefs:

Note! Two sets of the application should be handed in to the Embassy in following order:

1. Passport, valid at least 90 days after expiry of the visa.
2. Passport photo not older than six months (see left side of the page for photo requirements).
3. Application form for work duly completed.
4. Applicant's "Family Information Form", duly completed.
5. Labour contract in original signed by both parties.
6. Letter from Norwegian Labour Authority, authorizing the contract.
7. Occupational Qualification Certificate" issued by Occupational Skill Testing Authority (at least Technician/level two).
8. The notarial certificates of "Occupational Qualification Certificate" and "Certificate of Work Experience".
9. Documentation of housing in Norway (e.g. Tenancy agreement, lease of house, etc.) 
10. Applicant's birth certificate (notarial confirmation).
11. Documentation proving change of name (if any).
12. Copy of your passport (all relevant and used pages).
13. For Chinese Citizens: hukou in the original, with a photocopy of all the pages (only applicable to private passport holders)
14. For other citizens: valid Chinese residence permit.
15. Applicant's "Authorization Form" duly completed (Optional).
16. Applicant's "Report Form" duly completed.

Au pair:

Note! Two sets of the application should be handed in to the Embassy in following order:

1. Passport, valid at least 90 days after expiry of the visa.
2. 2 passport photo not older than six months. (See left side of the page for photo requirements)
3. Application form for work duly completed.
4. Applicant's "Family Information Form", duly completed.
5. Standard Contract of Employment for au pairs, duly completed.
6. Documentation of the host family's nationality (copy of passport).
7. Applicant's birth certificate (notarial confirmation).
8. Documentation proving change of name (if any).
9. Copy of your passport (all relevant and used pages).
10. For Chinese Citizens: hukou in the original, with a photocopy of all the pages (only applicable to private passport holders).
11. For other citizens: valid Chinese residence permit.
12. Applicant's  "Authorization Form" duly completed (optional).
13. Applicant's "Report Form" duly completed.

For residence permit (including parents visiting family for up to nine months):

Note! Two sets of the application should be handed in to the Embassy in following order:

1. Passport, valid at least 90 days after expiry of the visa.
2. 2 passport photo not older than six months. (See left side of the page for photo requirements)
3. Application form for residence permit duly completed.
4. Applicant's "Family Information Form", duly completed.
5. The invitation letter issued by the the reference/inviter stating the purpose of the visit.
6. Copy of the reference passport.
7. Documentation of subsistence: Reference's economic situation (bank certificate, salary statements etc.).
8. Documentation of housing (copy of tenancy agreement, lease of house/skjøte, leiekontrakt).
9. Documentation of relationship: The original notarial certificate stating the relationship between the applicant  (i.e. Marriage Certificate or Birth Certificate, whichever is applicable).
10. A declaration of consent for children (when only the parents have/will be granted a residence or work permit).
11. Applicant's birth certificate (notarial confirmation).
12. Documentation proving change of name (if any).
13. Copies of all the pages of your passport (also blank pages).
14. For Chinese Citizens: hukou in the original, with a photocopy of all the pages (only applicable to private passport holders).
15. For other citizens: valid Chinese residence permit.
16. Applicant's "Authorization Form" duly completed (Optional). 
17. Applicant's "Report Form" duly completed.
