When lodging an application:

Applications shall be lodged no more than three months before the start of the intended visit.

A visa application should in principle be lodged at least 15 calendar days before the intended visit.

Its validity shall extend at least three months after the intended date of departure from the visited country, contain at least two blank pages and have been issued within the previous 10 years

Travel medical insurance:
NB! Travel medical insurance is required upon submission of the application.

Requirement for all applicants except:
EU/EEA/EFTA-citizens and their family members (when accompanying an EEA- reference person to Norway, or in reunification with an EEA-citizen who already resides in Norway),  holders of diplomatic/ service passports and sea farers

Period of validity - “Period of grace” - 15 days.
The period of validity should correspond to the information provided by the applicant.
In all cases an additional "period of grace" of 15 days should be included in the period of validity to allow for a certain room for maneuver for the visa holder.

NB! The travel medical insurance must be valid for the entire period of intended stay or transit.
This means that the travel medical insurance has to be valid for the “effective stay” in order to issue a visa with an extra validity of 15 days. Therefore, the 15 days “period of grace” has to be considered in every case and cannot be given automatically.

Multiple entries: travel medical insurance for the entire period of the first visit.
