Norwegian Deputy Minister Robin Kåss headed the Norwegian delegation to the Offshore Wind China 2010 conference in Shanghai. Twelve Norwegian companies took part to explore opportunities for partnerships with China. The conference, which was co-organised by Norway, marked a new chapter of Sino-Norwegian relations in renewable energy. Read more

January 8 the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown announced the winners of licence bidding Round 3 in the UK’s new gigantic programme for renewable energy. The bidding consortium Forewind won the licence for Dogger Bank Offshore Wind Farm. Read more

The world’s first full-scale floating wind turbine – known as Hywind – was officially opened on 8 September off the southwest coast of Norway. “This is an important step towards creating a new Norwegian energy industry at sea,” declared Norway’s Minister of Petroleum and Energy Terje Riis-Johansen. In June, The Norwegian Government presented a new act and a strategy on offshore renewable energy. The intention is to provide a regulatory framework for offshore wind plants, and to give direction for the efforts needed to make offshore wind power an important part of Norwegian energy industry. 30 June 2009 Hainan and the China Southern Power Grid (CSG) celebrated Hainan's connection to the mainland power grid. The 30 km submarine power link, constructed and installed by Nexans Norway, has a capacity of 500 kV and is the first of its kind in China. The project is a collaboration between China Southern Power Grid and Nexans Norway and has been running for more than two years. Read more

In February 2007, Nexans Norway secured a $182 million contract, the largest ever for a Norwegian company in China , to construct and install a 600-MW submarine power link in  Southern China.   Read more
