The China Wind Power conference and exhibition are together regarded as the most influential event on wind power in China. Here all the major players within wind power in the Chinese context meet to discuss and discover potential for cooperation. The event includes an exhibition with over 500 exhibitors covering an area of nearly 45 000 square meters, as well as three days of conference presentations. China Wind Power is jointly organized by China Renewable Energy Industry Association, China Wind Energy Association and the Global Wind Energy Council.
The Norwegian Consul General in Guangzhou, Tormod C. Endresen, held a presentation during the first morning of the conference on the topic Chinese and Norwegian compatibility in the wind power sector – with a special focus on offshore wind power. Norway has considerable experience in offshore industries and offshore wind has become a main priority within energy cooperation between Norway and China the last couple of years. This is reflected in a series of exchange events in 2010, including a Chinese delegation visiting Norwegian companies in Norway in March, research exchange at a seminar organized by the Norwegian Research Council on the Norwegian pavilion at EXPO Shanghai in May, Norway co-organizing Offshore Wind China in Shanghai in June and more.
October 18-20 the Norwegian Consulate, in cooperation with China Renewable Energy Society, is hosting a technical workshop on offshore wind power held at the Institute of Electrical Engineering at CAS (Chinese Academy of Sciences) in Beijing. The trainers are international experts from many different countries providing training responding directly to a survey of Chinese companies’ needs at the present time.
