The conference was part of the exhibition “Western China Electric Energy Conservation and Intelligent Building Exhibition and Summit Forum 2011”, 10 – 11 March. The focus of both the conference and the exhibition was on energy efficiency in industry and buildings. Innovation Norway’s Energy Management Team (EMT) gave opening remarks and a presentation of the Energy Management Program (EMP).
The Norwegian government’s friendly attitude towards Chinese progress on energy efficiency was especially underscored. Another of EMT’s main reasons for contributing to the event was to attract potential project owners. EMT had also invited engineering consultancy company COWI, represented by Mr. Anders Søgaard and Ms. Ma Jingjing, to give a 50 minutes presentation of their relevant energy efficiency projects and achievements in China.
Other speakers represented the Chongqing University, Chongqing Energy Monitoring Center, commercial enterprises and NGOs within the energy efficiency field, including Natural Research Defence Council (NRDC) which EMP already has a close cooperation with. Around 150 people attended the conference, of which most were engineers and key personnel in local enterprises and government.
