Energy Management Team on Informative Visit to Norway

Last updated: 07/10/2011 // In Septebmer 2011, Innovation Norway invited their partners in the China Recycling Energy Corporation on a study trip to Norway, Denmark and Iceland. The goal was to study best-practices at various Waste Heat Recovery plants. The tour gave the parties a chance to discuss common challenges and was deemed a success by both organisers and participants.

Since the signing of a joint declaration between Innovation Norway (IN) and China Recycling Energy Corporation (CREG) in May 2010, Innovation Norway and CREG have cooperated closely under the auspices of Innovation Norway’s Energy Management Program. This programme is targeted at developing energy efficiency projects in China with the assistance of Norwegian companies. CREG has already been very much involved in industrial Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) projects in China and Innovation Norway has contributed with consulting services to develop the best possible technical solutions.

In order to facilitate a better exchange of Norwegian experiences in relevant fields, Innovation Norway organised a comprehensive visit to Norway with CREG’s general manager and two key engineers 11 – 19 September 2011. CREG is expanding its business scope to include bio energy, wind power and geothermal energy and the trip also included visits to plants in Denmark and Iceland to draw on different experiences in these countries.

The delegates were brought to see practical examples of good waste heat recovery and efficient energy production based on renewable sources. Many different engineering issues were addressed and thoroughly discussed on the on-site visits and meetings throughout the whole tour. The program in Norway included:

• Visit to Eramet Norway Kvinesdal’s Waste Heat Recovery facilities
• Meetings with AF Group, Kjeller Vindteknikk AS, Norsk Energi and the Norwegian Bio Energy Association (Nobio)
• Visit to Akershus Energy Park, a high tech energy plant based on a combination of solid bio energy, bio gas, bio oil and heat pumps

The tour was a great success and Innovation Norway hopes to have contributed to the development of more sustainable projects China.
