The event was hosted in cooperation with Tianjin Commercial Committee, as one of the most important authorities for Tianjin’s hotel business. Opening remarks were given by the Tianjin Commercial Committee’s Vice Director Mr. Yu Qiang, and CHA’s Assistant Chairman Mr. Zhang Minghou.
Mr. Sven Karlsen of IN was the conference’s first speaker. He used around 45 minutes to present IN’s Energy Management Program (EMP) and to share Norwegian experience on energy management, including energy auditing and a particular focus on energy monitoring. Practical examples were also shared from a Chinese hotel to which IN’s EMP had contributed with Norwegian consulting services on energy auditing and implementation of measures. The presentation was well received as a very relevant contribution to the Chinese approach on energy efficiency in hotels.
Around 200 representatives from the hotels in Tianjin area, mainly managers and chief engineers, were present at the seminar. The seminar thus proved to be a good arena to promote the Norwegian approach on energy efficiency and to improve the local focus and knowledge about energy efficiency in hotels.
Since the signing of the MOU in June 2010, IN and CHA have had a close cooperation on different seminars and other training activities. The event in Tianjin was the first in a series of conferences that will have covered as many as 10 big Chinese provincial cities by the end of 2012.
