The key object on the agenda was the election of a new board of directors, who will spearhead the NBA and lead the organization forward in a year that will be an exciting one in terms of Sino-Norwegian business relations. The newly elected board consists of Dan Bjørke (chairman), Willy Johansen (Vice Chairman), Christan James-Olsen (Vice Chairman Shanghai), Sigmund Bjørgo, Carina Enocksson, Morten Steen Johansen, Kjetil Lund, Andreas Magnus, Chris Rynning and Yilie Shen.
The Norwegian ambassador to China, H.E. Mr. Svein Sæther, came to Shanghai to oversee the proceedings and express his support and gratitude to the NBA on behalf of the Embassy in Beijing.
An important objective for the NBA in 2017 will be to include more Norwegian companies into the fold. During the AGM, members voted to change their membership policies to encourage more of the smaller Norwegian businesses and startups in China to join the ranks of NBA’s more than 60 members companies. They also agreed on changes to encourage participation from students and Noralumni, to better include them in the Norwegian business community.
Another important topic of this year’s AGM was the opportunities for Norwegian businesses in Guangdong and Southern China. The NBA has decided to form closer ties with the Consulate General in Guangzhou, that will now be sharing an observer seat on the NBA board of directors together with the Embassy in Beijing and the Consulate General in Shanghai.
