Even though the recipes are Japanese, the salmon is from Norway, and to emphasise the high quality of the salmon imported from the clean Norwegian waters, there is these days a special Norwegian menu at Guangzhou Daiwo restaurants.
Åshild Nakken from the Seafood Council, as well as Consul Håkon Smedsvig from the Norwegian Consulate General in Guangzhou, held opening speeches introducing the benefits of the Norwegian salmon and its growing role in South China food culture. The combination of the traditional importance of sea food in southern Chinese cuisine, as well as South China’s great interest in new impulses and ideas from abroad, add to the popularity of Norwegian salmon in the Guangzhou area.
