April 15 Consul General Tormod C. Endresen visited Guangzhou Diesel Engine Factory Co. Ltd., a factory in Guangzhou with 100 years of history, and was introduced to the advantages of the Marintek-Guangzhou Diesel engine technology. To the left: Mr. Luo Ai Qiang.

Cooperation between Guangzhou Diesel Engine Factory and the Norwegian maritime research institute Marintek has led to the development of an innovative LNG ship engine soon ready for the Chinese market. LNG eliminates sulphur emissions, significantly reduces NOX emissions and cuts CO2 emissions by at least 20 %. Read more

April 14 the Guangdong maritime industry and many of their Norwegian partners in China was brought together at the Canton Club in Guangzhou for a Nor-Shipping pre-event. Read more

Last week more several hundred companies offering equipment and services to the shipbuilding industry gathered in Guangzhou, taking part in INMEX – the exhibition that has grown to become the largest meeting arena for the shipbuilding and maritime community in the Pearl River Delta. Read more

A modern car carrier – the first in a series of four - was delivered from Xiamen Shipyard to Norwegian ship-owner Höegh Autoliners on the 16th of July. Being the first car carrier built for Höegh in China, she was aptly named “Höegh Beijing”. The three sister vessels are due for delivery October 2010 and June and October 2011. Read more

The anchor from the world’s largest ship, the ex Seawise Giant/Jahre Viking, ended its final journey in Hong Kong today. The legendary Seawise Giant/Jahre Viking measured more than 450 meters long from bow to stern and is considered the largest manmade moving object ever made. Read more

From the 1st till the 4th December the Marintec China will be held at Shanghai New International Expo Centre. This year will be the largest Norwegian pavilion ever. Read more

The visit of Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Ms. Rikke Lind, was successfully concluded April 30th. Ms. Lind opened the “Trends in Tomorrow’s Shipbuilding” seminar and hosted a lunch for relevant high ranking Chinese officials. The purpose of her visit was to explore the scope for enhanced co-operation between Norway and China in the maritime and shipbuilding industries. Read more
