Clear skies over Ningbo during NIP openings

Last updated: 25/10/2010 // The October sun sent generous cascades of warming beams over Ningbo when the Consulate General (Mr. Fred Nomme and Mr. Bjørn Blokhus) attended the grand opening of The Nordic Industrial Park`s (NIP) new Business Center and the Nordic Business Incubator on the 17th and 18th of October.

The Nordic Industrial Park is 100% Norwegian owned. It covers 300 000 square meters, of which 142 000 square meters are office and industry buildings. In this Park, Nordic companies can set up their business, rent office space and production areas, find exhibition facilities,  and buy a variety of administrative service from NIP`s service bureau. Until now, 42 companies are registered in the Park.
NIP is managed by General Manager Ove Nodland, who has more than 11 years of China experience, and has worked with this impressive concept during most of his time in China. More than 500 million NOK (approximately 570 million RMB) have been invested in the project.

At the completion of the project, NIP plans to offer a total of 170 000 square meters for Nordic companies. The building facilities in NIP are ultra modern and bear sign of Nordic design, but are erected with Chinese building materials and by Chinese construction workers. The recently completed locations are extremely attractive and represent a dream offer for companies that plans establishment in China and need a safe haven. The offer is especially mouth watering for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). In NIP they will find one of the best possibilities for such companies in China.

The Consulate General Shanghai as well as Innovation Norway in China are supporting the project and consider NIP to be a very important hub for Norwegian establishments in China.
On the grand opening day both existing and potential tenant were represented – so was the local authorities, who seem to consider NIP a very important element in Ningbo’s industrial infrastructure.

The guests were offered both dragon dance and traditional fireworks before the solemn ribbon cutting ceremony, performed by both Norwegian and Chinese invitees. The same evening the Ningbo authorities invited to a grand buffet dinner, preceded by a half hour discussion and exchange of views between a selected Norwegian and Chinese group. The atmosphere was excellent, and our Chinese friends clearly expressed the whish that the further development of NIP and other business projects should continue for the years to come, in the good spirit of cooperation. Indeed there was a clear sky over Ningbo last weekend.
