Norway based architect firm participates in “Crossing: Dialogues for Emergency Architecture” exhibition at NAMOC in Beijing. The exhibition commemorates the first anniversary of the Wenchuan earthquake.

The National Art Museom of China (NAMOC) is hosting an exihibition from 12 May to 24 May, in order to commemorate the first anniversary of the Wenchuan earthquake. To highlight its significance, the exhibition discusses and researches post-disaster emergency architecture world wide. 17 domestic and international architects team are invited to design feasible, efficient, safe and user-friendly emergency shelters for the victims of natural disasters (such as earthquakes and hurricanes) and social disasters (such as epidemic diseases).
Rintala Eggertsson Architects, 10 NTNU students from Trondheim and 8 CAFA students spent a week, working together to build a temporary living structure for emergency. The structure will be exhibited at NAMOC.
The exhibition is organized by the United Nations Development Programme, the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China and the National Art Museum of China, supported by the School of Architecture at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. Rintala Eggertsson Architects’ participation is sponsored by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Beijing and Helly Hansen.
