Succesful opening of the 5th International Fiber Art Biennale

09/12/2008 // Many people showed up for the opening of the 5th Fiber Art Biennale “From Lausanne to Beijing”. The exhibition, where 8 Norwegian artists are participating, will last until December 25th.

The opening at Tsinghua University Exhibition Hall

 

"This exhibition provides us with the best the world of textile art has to offer!", professor Feng Yuan of Tsinghua University declared in his opening speech November 25th. The exhibition hall was crowded with fiber art enthusiasts, and many speakers entered the stage to praise the Biennale.

 

"Variable and Invariable" - a part of a series by Solveig Aalberg

 

Artist Solveig Aalberg was very happy to be there: “We have had such a warm welcome here in China!” Several of the Norwegian artists at the Biennal have participated many times, but this is Aalberg’s first. “I’m impressed by the variety of the work”, she said, “you can find both large and smaller pieces, everything from video and 3D to more structural work”.

 

Artist Tove Pedersen, who has participated several times, exhibited her work “Sun Rise”, a colorful piece that drew a lot of attention at the opening.

 

Many were fascinated with the piece "Spaces in Between" by Norwegian artist Anne Stabell.


 

The exhibition lasts until December 25th in the exhibition hall of the Academy of Arts and Design, Tsinghua University.
