Norway’s Astrup Fearnley Museum Director Sharing Perspectives in Shanghai

On 17 Janurary 2017, Dr. Gunnar B. Kvaran, director of Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art in Oslo shared his perspectives on the museum’s collection and exhibitions at ShanghART in Shanghai.

 

The one hour talk gave the audience who were Chinese artists, curators, and professionals in local art institutions, a wide scene of the history of the museum as well as stories of buying collections and how to plan art programs.

In 2006 and 2011, together with Hans Ulrich Obrist and Julia Peyton-Jones, Gunnar B. Kvaran curated the exhibition project called China Power Station, which had videos, major installations, paintings and sculptures revealing the vibrant Chinese arts scene, showing some of the most innovative works from the country.

The Astrup Fearnley Museum is a privately owned museum of contemporary art which has been developed into one of the most important art institutions in Oslo since its opening in 1993.
