Norwegian Multimedia Art in Guangzhou

March 19 to April 18 you can experience the multimedia art installation 'The Telling Orchestra' at Guangdong Museum of Art.

Verdensteatret (the World Theater) is an Oslo-based Norwegian multimedia art group founded in 1986, consisting of artists from different fields working together and bridging the gaps between artistic borders.

Today Verdensteatret is one of the most innovative artistic groups in Norway. Their works are presented internationally in different art contexts and locations such as galleries, museums, music festivals and theaters. They have developed a unique and complex audiovisual style simultaneously presenting sculptural sceneography, sound spaces and stories of the fragile human soul.

In the summer of 2008, they represented Norway in the new international media art exhibition Synthetic Times: Media Art China 2008 which was organized by the National Art Museum of China in Beijing and an important cultural event leading up to the Beijing Olympics. Their installation, occupying a gallery space of four hundred square meters, was among the most acclaimed and memorable works of the exhibition and attracted considerable media and public attention.

Their coming Guangdong Museum of Art exhibition FORTELLERORKESTERET ("The Telling Orchestra") and a new work developed specifically for this event titled Phantom Shadows Dancing an Electrified Folklore, will be their first large-scale solo exhibition to be staged in China, reaching out to an even wider audience in the southernmost city of China with an audiovisual spectacle of innovative technologies and Nordic legends.
