The large scale installation, “And All the Questionmarks Started to Sing”, will also be presented as a performance/concert during the first week of the Biennale, opening on the 23rd of October. This is the very first time Norway is represented at one of the most important international art events in China.
Verdensteatret is an art group based in Oslo. The group consist of artists from many different artistic professions making installations, performance art, concerts and other art related works. Characteristic for their work is that they are building exquisite links between seemingly incompatible technologies and materials. The art group currently ranks amongst the most innovative art groups in Norway. Their characteristic combination of advanced technology in a close dialogue with more traditional tools, results in complex works and space-related compositions. Their works have been presented internationally in different art contexts and locations.
The Shanghai Biennale takes place every second year at the Shanghai Art Museum. It is an internationally highly respected non-profit art exhibition, the first of its kind in China since 1996. The 2010 event, also serving as the ending highlight of Expo 2010 Shanghai China, is expecting more than 1,000,000 visitors in its four months duration. It will also welcome more than 2,000 museum directors (200 of them are from top art museums all over the world) for the International Congress of Museum Directors on the 10th of November 2010.
