Norwegian design studio Yokoland wins award in Norway for exhibit in China

Last updated: 09/06/2010 // Norwegian design studio Yokoland has won the gold award at the Visuelt 2010 for their installation project “Chinese Copy” at the NOTCH Festival 2009 in Beijing.

The jury commented that “Instead of setting up a physical piece of artwork, Yokoland had decided to recreate its Oslo office as the wallpaper in the exhibition room in Beijing, demonstrating both their charming work and personality”.

"We are really pleased to win a gold medal at Visuelt for the project for NOTCH. The NOTCH team gave us an opportunity to present our studio in an original way and helped organize the production to be first-class," says Martin Lundell of Yokoland.

NOTCH, short for Nordic plus China, was founded in 2006 with the aim to stimulate cross-cultural exchange between the Nordic countries and China. It has now become an annual event. NOTCH10 – RE:PUBLIC will take place in October 2010 in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Yokoland is invited to exhibit their work at NOTCH10 Shanghai.

Yokoland is a design studio based in Oslo, founded by Aslak Gurholt Rønsen and Espen Friberg.
