Last updated: 24/10/2011 // In 2011, the NORDOX film festival in Beijing will be joined by a photo exhibition presenting recent works from 7 Nordic artists. The artists and images selected for the exhibition give a taste of the vitality of contemporary photography in the Nordic countries through the work of young photographers. When NORDOX goes to Shanghai and Guangzhou, the plan is for the photo exhibition to be displayed there as well.

As an important part of the NORDOX 2011 film festival, the Nordic Photo Exhibition will be held for the first time this year. With photography works by young artists from Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark, the exhibition hopes to give the audience an idea of what is going on within the world of contemporary photography in the Nordic countries.

The photographers include Åsa Sjöström (Sweden), Johan Bävman (Sweden), Andrea Gjestvang (Norway), Knut Egil Wang (Norway), Thomas Lekfeldt (Denmark), Joakim Eskildsen (Denmark) and Maarit Hohteri (Finland). In their work, they explore human emotions, societal challenges, as well as global and environmental issues such as climate change; issues that are familiar for audiences everywhere.

The exhibition is organised by Lens Magazine, a magazine which produces in-depth photo-reportages on a wide range of issues. In Beijing, the Nordic Photo Exhibition will be held at Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA), located at the 798 Art District.

Please see the websites of UCCA and NORDOX for more information.
