With 10th year anniversary this year European Film Promotion (EFP) once again bring ambitious up-and-coming producers together from various European countries for the Producers on the Move programme in Cannes. This year, the EFP members have selected 23 up-and-coming, independent producers who have already made a mark with their outstanding productions in their home countries and at film festivals, but are still at the beginning of their international careers. One of these producers is Yngve Sæter, the man behind “The man who loved Yngve”.

“The man who loved Yngve”
Yngve Sæters first feature production, Stian Kristiansen’s The Man Who Loved Yngve (Mannen som elsket Yngve/2008), won four Amanda’s at Norway’s national film award. The film was also nominated for the Nordic Film Prize and has been screened at some 20 international festivals.
Sæter says that”We wanted to make a film for young audiences that they didn’t know they wanted. Thanks to a brilliant director with the right energy, a perfect casting, a good choice of music and a well-orchestrated marketing the film went well both among the people who are young now and those who were young in 1989 when the homosexual love story takes place”. In addition to this Sæter also highlight that the mix of humour, strong feelings and a direct language, contributed to the success of the movie (180.000 admissions)
”In all modesty I do not think I have seen so many outstanding Norwegian youth pictures in my lifetime", he remarked, while preparing for the Cannes outing where he will be introduced to the international industry at lunches and round-table meetings.
Sæther is currently in preparing a NOK 26 million television mini-series from "Buzz Aldrin, What Has Become of You?" (Buzz Aldrin, hvor blev det av deg i alt mylderet?), from Johan Harstad’s 2005 novel. It follows a young man with a unique voice, who chooses to be No 2, like Aldrin on the moon.
