Yunnan International Green Film Festival

14/06/2010 // ”Breaking the Ice” is the first topic of this newly started film festival, scheduled to open the 7th of June. The film festival aims to present both Chinese and International films which focus on the topic of nature and environment. The festival will close on the 10th of June.

The Festival intends to promote the possibilities of a harmonious relationship to nature through the various means of communication cinema provides. Yunnan as a region known for its natural richness and diversity presents the ideal scenery for a multicultural exchange of ideas and visions for a possible paradise that we are seeking. YGIFF present films that explore the state of nature and environment all around the world.

The opening films will be On Thin Ice by Norwegian director Unni Ødegaard and the Chinese short film My Gyps Himalayensis. In addition to films, there will be an opportunity to discuss directly with Norwegian and Chinese directors. A Script Development Workshop with Martin Daniel is also featured in the program. Among the Norwegian films to be screened are titles such as Catch and Denial, The Final Cod, Power and Deep Pockets and Breaking the Ice-Arctic Style.  Chinese films will also feature prominently during the festival.
