19/08/2009 // From August to October people in Beijing can enjoy new innovative Chinese dishes of Norwegian Salmon at several top restaurants in the city. The name of the promotion is “The Eight Immortals Crossing The Sea”, inspired by a famous fairy tale in China.

The story behind:
8 immortals crossing the sea originates as a record of works made by writers of various Chinese dynasties. In short the story follows 8 characters and their journey across the sea, and describes how these 8 immortals used different objects as a vessel in order to accomplish his or hers mission. Following from this legendary story is the everyday saying; “when people try to accomplish the same task by different methods, they are emulating the example of the eight immortals crossing the sea.

The Norwegian Salmon Food Month follows the theme of the 8 immortals crossing the sea, and each restaurants feature at least 8 different recipes of salmon in their menus. . The restaurants  have here had the unique opportunity to use their expert knowledge of food in a creative setting, where they stand free to present their perceptions of 8 immortals through food. The goal of this promotion is to create awareness of Norwegian Salmon as a perfect fish for different Chinese cuisine. A further aim is popularize Norwegian Salmon in the Chinese restaurant community and create awareness and excitement among Chinese chefs and consumers.
