The first Annual Norwegian Seafood Dinner in Shanghai

20/11/2009 // Norway is one of the largest exporters of seafood, exporting to more than 150 nations worldwide. Every day 127 million meals of Norwegian seafood are eaten around the world. On the 12th of November a Seafood Dinner served exclusively with Norwegian Seafood was held at the Westin in Shanghai. It was the first annual Norwegian seafood dinner arranged by The Royal Norwegian Consulate General and the Norwegian Business Association.

On the 12th of November the Royal Norwegian Consulate General and the Norwegian Business Association invited Norwegian companies, local government and local media for a Seafood dinner.  The spectacular seafood buffet was prepared by the renowned Norwegian Chef Mr. Ivar Breivik together with Chef Thomas Rappl of Westin and his team of professionals.

Mr. Ivar Breivik has been working as a chef at famous restaurants all over the world for 21 years, including the USA, Italy, Denmark, France, Spain, the Caribbean and Norway.  During the last 10 years he has been working at his own restaurant XL Diner, which specialty is Bacalao. Today, XL Diner in Ålesund is the biggest bacalao restaurant in Europe. He has participated in several national and international chef contests, achieving good results. In the last 12 years, Ivar Breivik has been working actively with TV programs about food for Norwegian, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Brazilian and Russian TV channels, promoting Norway and Norwegian seafood.

The Norwegian Consul General Mr. Fred Nomme attended the event with his wife, and presented the opening speech.


Besides the fresh and delicious seafood the guests also experienced an excellent concert with the Norwegian band Baga- bo Pooh.  It was also arranged lucky draw as part of the entertainment.  A lucky guest went home with a 10kg Norwegian salmon.
