Fannaråken Wind Quintet is named after a 2000 meter high mountain in the astonishing mountain ridge Jotunheimen. The quintet is a great example of how music and nature is united in a performance which includes everything from serious classical, to crossover and Norwegian folk music.
The quintet was established in 2005 and consists of Steinar Dølve (flute), Ingunn Lien (oboe), Magnus Kvam (bassoon), Inge H. Mortensen (french horn), and Jan Inge Moksnes (clarinet). In addition to playing in Fannaråken the members also have individual careers, both as freelancers and in different musical ensembles in Norway.
Since its establishment, Fannaråken has given many performances, both in Norway and abroad. In addition to traditional performances, the quintet every year hikes through the beautiful Norwegian highlands where they give concerts at tourist lodges. They have also been enjoyed by thousands of Norwegian school children through their performances for “Rikskonsertene”, a concert organizer which aim is to make high quality music and concerts available to every student in Norway.
As part of Rikskonsertene`s Sino-Norwegian initiative, Fanaråken will perform a set of interactive concerts at selected schools in the Shanghai area. Through these concerts, the quintet will bring the joy of music to schoolchildren of all ages.
While most of the concerts are aimed at Children, there is also good news for grown-ups who would like to experience this wonderful performance. On October 25th Fannaråken will hold an open concert for audience of all ages.
The concert is free of charge and Fannaråken will definitely blow you away.
