The Lionheart Brothers was formed in 1998 by Marcus Forsgren and Fred Gerhard Strand in Klæbu, a small town right in the middle of Norway. Their first album appeared in 2003 titled White Angel Black Apple. In 2007, the album Dizzy Kiss was released to critical acclaim in both Scandinavia and the UK. This album was especially remembered for the ’50 Souls And A Discobowl’ track, which soon became a national hype as the third most played track at Norwegian broadcast radio NRK P3 and nominations at the Norwegian Grammy.
After the release of Dizzy Kiss in 2007, the band headed out on a two year long journey, promoting and touring in both Scandinavia and the UK. Expectations were high and the tempo even higher. Then, silence followed. ‘We were running low and the musical depression was increasingly lurking in the back of our minds’, the band members say. Meanwhile, the members appeared in other bands; Jaga Jazzist, I Was A King, Serena-Maneesh and Pirate Love.
After two years of inspirational quarantine, ‘Matters of Love and Nature’ finally appeared in 2011. In the studio, the fire that originally had them come together was once again relit, resolving into squeaking dissonances, death-bringing drums, piercing guitars and pleading lyrics and thereby swapping their west coast psychedelia for darker matter.
Make sure you don’t miss out on this chance to hear them live!
