We look forward to welcome around 100 participants and support staff, the largest Norwegian contingent ever sent to a Universiade.
Norway will compete in the following sports: Archery; Track and field; Volleyball and Beach volleyball; Shooting; Diving; Swimming; Cycling; Taekwondo and Gymnastics.
The Universiade, also known as World University Games, is a multi-disciplinary sports competition, organised every second year by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The participants are young athletes who combine sports and student life. By mid July, 139 countries and close to 9000 athletes have registered to participate in Shenzhen.
On the 17th of August, the Consulate General in Guangzhou will host a reception at the Pavillion Hotel Long Gang in Shenzhen to mark Norway’s participation at the Universiade. All Norwegians living in Shenzhen and Guangzhou are invited to meet and cheer the Norwegian athletes.
I am happy to welcome such a large contingent of young Norwegians to the Shenzhen for the Universiade. I am sure they will leave with fond memories from the young and unique city of Shenzhen – and hopefully some medals too! - says Guangzhou Consul General Tormod C. Endresen.
