The 2nd International Ibsen Festival for University Students in Nanjing

Last updated: 19/10/2011 // For the second time, top talents from university theatres are gathering in Nanjing to perform their interpretations of selected plays by Henrik Ibsen.

On October 21st and 22nd the 2nd International Ibsen Festival for University Students will be held at Nanjing University. The festival aims at renewing students` interest in adapting and performing the original plays by Henrik Ibsen.

During the festival, theatre assembles from six different universities will perform selected parts from different pieces by Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen.

The six performances have been carefully selected from sixteen submitted proposals from all over China, and during the festival, a professional jury will select and award the most outstanding contribution.

 

The six performances that will be shown in Nanjing are:

 

October 21st, 18.30 at University Students`Centre, Xianlin Campus, Nanjing Univeristy:

Peer Gynt by Taiwan University of Arts

Ghosts by Tongji University

Wonem Flowers by Nanjing Agricultural University

 

October 22nd, 18.30 at Science and Technology Building, Gulou Campus, Nanjing University:

Peer Gynt by People`s University of China

The Lady from the Sea by Shangdong University

The Destruction of Borkman by Xi`an International Studies University

 

The three members of the jury are:

 

Wu Xiaojiang, Director of China`s National Centre for the Performing Arts

Inger Buresund, Norwegian director

He Chengzhou, Professor and Director of Chinese - Nordic Cultural Centre, President of International Ibsen Committee
