The number of Norwegian students in China is increasing, and nearly 90 students, teachers and embassy staff came together to meet new friends and make new connections on Wednesday 30 November. In September 2011, twelve Chinese students are embarking on a new adventure in Norwegian language and culture at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU). They are the second group to attend this program. In June 2011, the first batch of fourteen students successfully completed a four year course of study with Norwegian language and culture as their major subjects. Read more

Hard work and musical excellence, but also plenty of fun and games, is on the Beijing menu for the first week of October this year when the Suzuki violinists from Oslo visits the Red Cap musical kindergarten. Director Geoffrey Andrews of the Western Academy of Beijing and Norwegian members of staff visited the Norwegian embassy in Beijing on Friday 19 August to show their condolences in relation to the tragic events on 22 July. After four years of hard work, 14 students from Beijing Foreign Studies University will graduate in June 2011. The hopeful group of fourteen and their two teachers are about to successfully complete one of BFSU’s most pioneering programs for the first time this year. The subject? Norwegian language. May 26, a group of nine students from Fudan University, one of China’s most prestigious universities, visited the Norwegian Consulate General in Shanghai. Though they study different subjects, these students are united by one shared love: An appreciation for the culture, society and values of Nordic countries. Read more

May 24, 2011, Norwegian Consul General in Shanghai Bjørn Blokhus met with Zhang Wenjun, vice principal of Shanghai Jiaotong University, at the university’s Minhang Campus. During the meeting, the two men discussed possible avenues for Sino-Norwegian cooperation in the educational sector. Read more
