China and the Nordic Welfare Model

Stein Kuhnle, Professor of Comparative Politics, University of Bergen, Norway, and Professor of Comparative Social Policy, Hertie School of Governance, Berlin, Germany is giving lectures on the relevance of the Nordic welfare model in Hong Kong on the 21 and 23 of March.
Professor Kuhnle will along with other scholars discuss whether or not the Nordic model of welfare is relevant for China today, how the Nordic model is distinguishable from other models, and what its achievements are. The talk will give examples of how the Nordic countries perform compared to other Western welfare states. The professor will also give a brief presentation of the new comprehensive volume in Chinese on the Nordic welfare state, which he has co-edited, and which was published in May 2010 by Fudan University Press. Kuhnle will speak at The University of Hong Kong Monday afternoon, and participate in an all-day seminar on Wednesday at the Hong Kong Institute of Eduaction.
Stein Kuhnle (born 1947) is currently holding professorships at universities in Norway, Denmark, and Germany. He graduated from Bergen University in 1973, has taught at a variety of institutions in Europe, USA, and Australia, and has published a number of books and articles in several languages.
