The head of the new Board is Sverre Jonassen, who is currently studying International Marketing at Fudan University in Shanghai. The board also consists of five other students representing Norwegian students from Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong. The main responsibilities for new board will be to arrange activities for students and maintain close contact with the embassy and the business sector.
As the largest organization for Norwegian students abroad, ANSA plays an important role for promoting students interests in China and in encouraging more students to study in China. In this respect it should be noted that good news for Norwegian degree students in China has been presented in the Government`s Proposition for National Budget 2012-2013.
From 2012, the State Educational Loan Fund will commence a programme of extended support for language studies in BRIC countries for a trial period of five years. The change will apply for those students who are learning the local language in order to pursue degree studies at a local university. The proposal is launched as a means to increase the number of Norwegian students in emerging economies. Countries which are important to Norway and which Norway cooperates with are a priority, and the BRIC countries are thus natural choices in the first trial period.
