Noralumni China launched in Guangzhou

22/07/2011 // Chinese students with links to Norway gathered in Guangzhou to exchange impressions and kick off the Noralumni in South China.

NorAlumni China is a network enabling contact among students with links to Norway and China. Noralumni members are typically Chinese who study or have studied in Norway, and Norwegians who study or have studied in China. If you are, has been or want to become a student in Norway, Noralumni is a good place to stay in touch and obtain or share information.

Students with links to Norway were invited to a dinner at the Consul General’s residence in Guangzhou 21 July. Among the guests were Chinese students in Norway home on summer holidays, students and teachers on their way to Norway, as well as exchange students who had recently returned. The evening turned into a fun exchange among different people with one common experience or objective – that of studying Norway.

For the consulate, the evening gave a welcome opportunity to better understand how Norway is experienced through the eyes of Chinese students. We also informed our guests about the newly established Noralumni network and the opportunity it gives to stay in touch with Norway. The number of Chinese students going to Norway have shown a remarkable growth the last years. Chinese are now the biggest group of foreign students in the country, reinforcing the growing number of personal ties between Norway and China.
