The International Cultural Festival is an annual festival aiming to promote culture from all over the world to university students in Beijing. It is organized by the university`s Students’ International Communication Association, which was set up in 2006.
Norway participated in the International Culture Festival for the first time this year, and the Norwegian stand proved very popular. Visiting students were particularly interested in nature and travelling, but also Norwegian architecture and literature. The festival enjoyed more than 1000 visiting students and distributed materials donated from 12 different embassies. In addition, students from Japan, Korea, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia gave presentations about their native countries.
This year, the number of visitors was almost twice that of 2010. The aim for next year`s festival is to portray a larger number of countries, and to focus more specifically on the cultural aspect, says Wen Jiayao, a student at Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications, and one of the festival`s organizers.
