Olavskulen Bømlo college visits China

23/02/2007: Olavskulen Bømlo College visited China during the Chinese Lunar New Year to learn more about Chinese culture and society.

Olavskulen,  a college that teaches subjects for youths without any formal education, offers different courses of study in subjects like institutional cooking, theatre, costume and fashion design, and in international communication.

The students from Olavskulen followed an extensive program that both included a general part that was followed by the whole group and a part focusing on learning more about the field relevant to their specific courses regarding China. For instance, the institutional cooking class went to visit a local Beijing food market, while the international communication class visited the Norwegian Embassy to learn more about Sino-Norwegian relations.

This is not the only example of Norwegian educational institutions deciding to visit China in recent years, but is an embodiment of the growing interest of China and Chinese culture and society among the Norwegian population.
