University of Bergen and Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences

20/12/2006 // In November 2006 the two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding, whereas they recognise having close directions and interests of scientific research and teaching activities, and that further enlargement of mutual cooperation in these fields will be helpful to both sides.

University of Bergen and Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (SASS) agreed that each institution will promote the exchange of faculty members, research scholars and students for conduction teaching and cooperative research. Further they will promote the exchange of qualified students including those enrolled in degree programs.

Established in 1958 and administrated by the Shanghai Municipal Goverment - SASS is China's oldest research institution for the humanities and social sciences, and the largest one outside the capital of Beijing. SASS is a leading think-tank and distinguished academic institution in China. It receives most of its funds from the municipal goverment, and also draws financial support from various non-goverment sources.
