Nordic Centre

06/03/2007 // The Nordic Centre at Fudan University is a joint project between Fudan and 23 Nordic universities. It was officially opened in November 1995 by former Norwegian Prime Minister Gro Harlem Brundtland and Professor Yang Fujia, then President of Fudan University.

The centre is the only Nordic academic institution set up in China. It aims to promote closer ties and understanding between the Nordic countries and China by means of jointly undertaken research projects, conferences, and educational activities.

The centre holds courses for Chinese students pursuing studies of the Nordic Countries as well as for Nordic students studying China. One of these courses is the annual Master Course in Chinese Politics, taught in English by Chinese and Nordic professors. The course gives 15 ECTS credits and takes place during November and December (7 weeks). Courses are also being organized for Nordic businesses in Shanghai.

The Centre has a library collection on the Nordic countries with literature both in English and in Chinese.
