Last updated: 03/02/2012 // The Kavli Prize Nanoscience Committee's final meeting for 2012 prize winner in Nanoscience will take place in Beijing 17-18 April 2012.

The Kavli Prize is a partnership between the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, the Kavli Foundation (US) and the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research. It recognizes scientists for their seminal advances in three research areas: astrophysics, nanoscience and neuroscience. The Prize is awarded every second year by the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters at a ceremony in Oslo, Norway. The prize winners for 2012 will be announced on 31st May and the award ceremony will be held on 4th September.

The Kavli Prize Nanoscience Committee will hold its final meeting in Beijing 17-18 April to select the 2012 prize winner in nanoscience. Prof. Jianguo Hou, President of the Science and Technology University of China, is one of the five committee members at this year’s Committee. Prof. Chunli Bai, President of Chinese Academy of Sciences, served as a committee member at the 2007-2008 Committee.

On the margins of the committee meeting, a scientific workshop between the committee members and Chinese scientists in the field is planned. The committee members are expected to give lectures at the workshop.

The 2010 nanoscience prize was awarded jointly to US scientists Donald Eigler, of IBM’s Almaden Research Centre, San Jose, California, and Nadrian Seeman, of New York University.
