The findings and recommendations of three CCICED Task Forces on soil, water and oceans, as well as studies on ecosystem management strategies in China and China`s ecological footprint, provided a solid factual, scientific and analytical basis for the discussions.  The meeting discussed in depth at parallel sessions the relationship between ecology and economy, and the relationship between energy-conservation, emissions reduction and green development.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Zhou Shengxian, Minister, Ministry of Environmental Protection, who also presented a special report on China`s environmental policy. The opening day the meeting was honored by the attendance of Vice Premier Mr. Li Keqiang, who also gave a keynote speech. It is recommended that China reform the overall ideology and methodology regarding ecosystem use and management, and set healthy ecosystem and highly functional eco-services as a key goal and take a holistic ecosystem management approach as a core.
