In Shanghai’s July summer heat, the Consulate General has gone through a relatively quiet period. However, preparations are already afoot for a busy autumn schedule, both on the political and cultural front.

In spite of the heat, the Norwegian pavilion at the 2010 World Expo continues to receive massive attention from the Chinese audience. The pavilion could recently celebrate 1,5 million visitors since the Expo opening on May 1st this year.

Henrik Ibsen’s drama Little Eyolf was staged in Shanghai in July, attracting a large Chinese and Norwegian audience.

In September, the new Sino-Norwegian alumni network NorAlumni is set to be launched in Shanghai. We urge all current and former students to register as soon as possible.

1,5 million visitors at the Norwegian EXPO pavilion
	The Norwegian Expo pavilion passed 1,5 million visitors last week, which means Norway is already halfway to reaching its estimated goal of 3 million visitors during EXPO 2010. Read more >

Ibsen’s Little Eyolf
	Henrik Ibsen’s drama Little Eyolf will be staged in Shanghai mid this month, by a local drama group who call themselves 802 Theatre Studio. With support from the Norwegian Consulate General in Shanghai, the play has been interpreted and adapted to the Chinese stage by art director Peter Liu, who is a graduate from Shanghai Theatre Academy of performing arts.Read more >
