Dear all,

May has been a very exciting month here in Shanghai!  After years of preparation, Shanghai World Expo finally opened its doors to visitors from all over the world. Norwegian Pavilion Day on May 28 proved to be a great success, and was celebrated with an amazing cultural program and visits from HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway and several Norwegian ministers. June also offers many exciting cultural events - Royal Norwegian Consulate General in Shanghai is happy to inform you of upcoming happenings that might be of interest!

Five Norwegian features have been selected for the 13th Shanghai International Film Festival that will be held between June 12-20. Do not miss the Norwegian contributions which are in the category family films.

Norwegian painter Pernille Leggat Ramfelt will from June 10-19 participate in the joint exhibition Henji at Sanhe Museum in Hangzhou. This fusion of numerous types of artistic expressions is something not to be missed!

The exhibition New Nordic landscapes will be held between the 1st of June and 15th of August at the Nordic Lighthouse in Shanghai. The themes are biodiversity in an urban context, interaction between infrastructure and landscape and process urbanism.

In conjunction with Maritime Days at the Norwegian pavilion June 17-19, Vice Ministers of Trade and Industry Mr. Pål Julius Skogholt and Mr. Halvard Ingebrigtsen will visit Shanghai.

This year’s Norwegian National Day Celebration was held on May 15 at Cypress Hotel. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to make this a memorable day!

The new Nordic Center building at Fudan University’s main campus was officially opened on May 26. The inauguration also coincided with its 15^th anniversary.

The Consulate General will be closed on June 16 (Dragon Boat Festival).

Norway Day at Expo 2010 Shanghai
	The 28th of May was Norway Day at Expo 2010 Shanghai. The occasion was celebrated with an exciting cultural programme, including well-known Norwegian and Chinese artists. HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway was among the many prominent guests. Read more >

Norwegian Films at Shanghai International Film Festival
	Five Norwegian features have been selected for the 13th Shanghai International Film Festival that will be held between June 12-20. With a screening program of close to 1,000 films, the festival is the biggest event of its kind in the country.Read more >

Norwegian art in Hangzhou
	Norwegian painter Pernille Leggat Ramfelt will from June 10-19 participate in a joint exhibition at Sanhe Museum in Hangzhou. The exhibition brings together talented artists with a variety of backgrounds, influences and approaches to making art. Read more >

Manger School Brass Band celebrating Children’s Day in Shanghai
	Manger School Brass Band just finished their very successful 7 day long Shanghai tour. The visit included performances on the Norwegian Pavilion Day on May 28 as well as several other concerts and activities. Their inspiring and fun shows gave something really typical Norwegian to a curious Chinese audience!Read more >

Håkon Gullvåg in China
	Norwegian painter Håkon Gullvåg will be presenting his works to a Chinese audience in a series of exhibitions across the country in the period 2010-2011. The exhibition will be accompanied by the publication of a new book documenting 20 years of his life’s work. Read more >

	Nesten 400 store og små hadde funnet veien til Cypress Hotel den 15. mai for å feire årets nasjonaldagsfeiring sammen med andre nordmenn og norgesvenner. Read more >

Visit by Dr Kyrre Lekve, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Research.
	Dr. Lekve visited Shanghai May 20-27 along with officials from the ministry and the Norwegian Research Council.Read more >

Visit by Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry Mr. Trond Giske
	The Norwegian minister of Trade and Industry Mr. Trond Giske is currently on a 10-day visit to China between the 21st and 31st of May. The minister’s program, which centers on Norway Day at Expo 2010 Shanghai also includes visits to Beijing, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Suzhou and Chongqing. Read more >

Visit by Norwegian Minister of Oil and Energy Mr. Terje Riis-Johansen
	The Norwegian Minister of Oil and Energy, Mr. Terje Riis-Johansen, will visit China between the 26th of May and the 1st of June, during which time he will visit World Expo Shanghai, and the cities of Hangzhou and Yantai. Read more >

Trondheim soloists on tour in China
	Trondheim soloists will be touring in China in May and June, performing music by Edvard Grieg and Tan Dun as well as traditional Scandinavian music. The tour includes a performance at the Shanghai Expo during Norway Day on the 28th of May.Read more >

Trondheim Symphony Orchestra
	The Trondheim based Symphony and Choir Trondheim Symphony Orchestra (TSO) will tour China from the 20th to 29th of May, as part of the orchestra's centennial celebrations. The tour begins at the Beijing Century Theatre on May the 21st.Read more >
